After students have completed a draft of their paper, they often think they are done. Barry Lane, author of After “The End”: Teaching and Learning Creative Revision, has developed activities to do with students to encourage them to revise—especially to help them add details to help expand their writing.
This activity, based on Barry Lane’s ideas regarding digging for details and asking questions, was developed by Barb Kirchmeier at the University of Idaho to help students identify places in their writing where an audience needs (or wants) more information.
